Temple of Dendur (Ca. 15 B.C.)

Temple was erected to honor the Goddess Isis, the patron of nature and magic, often revered as being the ideal mother. On the outside of the temple are engravings of other gods and goddesses. Above are pictures of Isis’s son, Horus, the god of the sky. He is depicted with the head of a falcon and holding an ankh. Sakhmet, the goddess of violence, disaster, and illness is depicted with a feline head with a sundisk residing above her head. Then there is Thoth, the god of knowledge and wisdom, is depicted with the head of an ibis.
